Another Level
The screens a family meets with a youth athletics program in Brampton, from the first visit to telling another family.
Stage An interactive prototype made for the client. It is not live for families yet: payment, messages and scheduling are not connected, and every athlete, name and number in it is invented. The prototype says so on its own screens.
Another Level coaches young athletes in Brampton, whatever sport they play. A family deciding on it has a question at every step: is it right for my kid, what happens after we apply, what are we paying for, is it working. I mapped that path from the first visit to the point a family tells someone else, and designed a screen for each step.
Decisions
-
Answer the parent’s first questions first
Ages, how often, what the work is and where it happens are on the first screen. The first action is finding out whether the program fits, and it costs nothing.
-
Stand-ins, labelled as stand-ins
The athletes, names and numbers are invented, and each screen says so where they appear, so the client can read the prototype as a proposal and never as a promise. The photographs are licensed stand-ins until the coach supplies his own.
-
Six short questions, one at a time
About two minutes, no medical or school records, and nothing is charged. A progress count says exactly how far along a parent is.
-
Show the week before the questions
The program’s three training evenings sit beside the form, so a family can see whether they can make them before typing anything. One tap marks an evening they cannot do.
-
A record that fills in as it goes
Beside the form, the athlete’s record shows what the coach knows so far, and what the program adds later: where he started, what changed and what comes next.
-
Measure twice, the same way
Each number is taken in the first session and again four weeks later, under the same conditions, so the second one can be compared with the first and not with a different day.
-
An update that earns the next month
At the end of every month a parent gets a short account of what changed, what the athlete did and what comes next, instead of a renewal notice.
The journey, step by step
Each step is named the way a family would say it, with the screens that serve it.

More screens
What I did
- Mapped the journey a family takes, from the first visit to telling another family
- Directed the design of every screen and reviewed each build at phone and desktop size
- Kept what is real apart from what is proposed, on every screen
